Moving to the Chicago area

I am moving to the Chicago area (Evanston to be exact) to start Grad School in January and I am looking for potential roommates or even anyone who is familiar with the area with just some advice on where to look.

Evanston

I’m a Medill undergrad now and would be happy to give you some pointers if you want to stay in Evanston. It would definitely be the easiest for you, although not exactly as social as the center of the city. I’m aapatoff (at) gmail.com — let me know!

Lakeview

Consider the Lakeview neighborhood, as well. It’s midway between Evanston and Medill’s downtown newsroom in the Loop, where you’ll be spending at least one quarter depending on your concentration, with easy access to both if you’re near the Belmont stop. Most of my Evanston friends wished they were closer to the action in Chicago, especially when the purple line stops running at night. Best of luck!

Evanston is Fine

I take it you are going to grad school at Northwestern, right? Just live in Evanston. Outside of Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville and the Gold Coast Evanston is full of you people, but I would definitely stay in downtown Evanston.

I’m not terribly familiar

I’m not terribly familiar with Evanston but I live in the city so I might be able to give you some tips. You can email me at kathryn dot swartz at gmail dot com.
