It's never too early to schedule informationals

I think the earlier you start the better. You can set stuff up for winter break as a way to introduce yourself, show you’re serious and also find out about any opportunities. I think it shows more initiative than waiting until graduation. But that’s just me!
There are some really good networking tips online at www.makingitinthecity.com and job postings at www.mediabistro.com. Both sites have been extremely helpful as I began my search!

info interviews

hey, i’m a senior, too. i was told by a major magazine company this summer that the best time to start scheduling informational interview (with HR) is closer to exam time—think spring break.

i think you can pretty much schedule them with anyone. although HR would probably be best to save towards spring break. i think if it’s with an assistant at a magazine, then anytime would be good.

kind of scary though, isn’t it? everyone i know is already searching for a job, and from what i’ve heard, we might as well wait til we graduate to start looking. YIKES.
