Dear Ed,
It seems that most of the editors people interview with are women. I’m interviewing with a male editor—is there anything I should do differently?
Thank you,
Dennis, New York, NY

Dear Dennis,
The advice stays the same for interviewing with male editors: Dress professionally, but not too stiffly (unless it’s for a business magazine or newsweekly), answer his questions in ways that show off your past relevant experience and your thorough knowledge and passion for his magazine, have examples of specific experiences ready to fully answer his questions, and be prepared with thoughtful questions for him about office culture and the type of work you’ll be doing.
Love,
Ed
