Clare McGlade is a graduate student in Pace University’s M.S. in Publishing program. She works part-time in the department office as the student assistant, and has just started a spring internship at HarperCollins Children’s Books. Always an avid reader of both books and magazines, she traveled to London in the summer of 2009 to intern at Puffin Books, Mitchell-Beazley Publishers, and Quadrille Publishers. After that experience she was hooked, and resolved to start a career in publishing.
After receiving a BS in Business Administration and a BA in Dance from the University of California, Riverside, Clare got the opportunity to fulfill her dream of moving to New York City and enrolled in Pace University’s program. She aspires to begin an editorial career in either children’s books or arts magazines. Having danced all her life, working for a magazine like Dance Spirit or Dance Teacher would be a thrill!
When not working, interning, or taking classes, Clare can be found taking tap classes or out swing or blues dancing in the city. New York provides wonderful resources for both
publishing and dance, and Clare feels very lucky to be living at the center of it all. She is very excited to restart the Ed on Campus chapter at Pace University to provide even more connections and resources to its ambitious students who are looking to start a career in the magazine industry!
