Ed Researcher

Devin Tomb became an Ed researcher in May 2009. She is a senior at Penn State University, where she officially majors in journalism and unofficially majors in dorm room decorating. (She has a minor obsession with Pottery Barn.) Devin is the editor in chief of Valley magazine, Penn State’s life and style publication. As EIC, she has focused the magazine toward “students recognizing students” for their academic and extra-curricular accomplishments. She co-founded Penn State’s Ed2010 chapter in 2008 and pioneered a successful speaker series, hosting three editors from professional magazines each semester. Devin took a brief break from all things magazine-related during the spring semester of her junior year to study abroad in Paris, where she ate lots of macaroons, snuck into fashion shows and became fluent in French.

Devin has interned for CosmoGirl and O, The Oprah Magazine. After graduating in May 2010, she hopes to land a permanent spot in the magazine world!

3 things to know: 1. She reads the masthead just like any other page in a magazine. 2. She spent 18 years as a ballet dancer before going to college. 3. She is a hardcore scrapbooker.

3 things you really didn’t need to know: 1. If you ever offer her leftover food, she’ll take it. 2. She had a major career move at the age of 10, when she heard herself on tape and realized she would never become a famous singer. 3. She secretly wants Michael Bublé to surprise her at her wedding and sing her favorite song, “Everything.”
