Renee Freemon Mulvihill is a freelance writer/editor. She has done work for several of the Better Homes and Gardens Special Interest Publications, Travel Holiday, Parents, Men’s Health, Midwest Living, LHJ.com, and BHG.com. A graduate of Drake University, Renee previously served as the deputy editor of Remodeling Ideas, editor of House Beautiful Home Building, associate editor at Country Living Gardener and Rebecca’s Garden, and as an ASME intern at House Beautiful.
Katie Nugent has been with Meredith Corporation since 2002. She currently works as a Senior Associate Editor for special projects in Meredith’s Health group, including overseeing
HeartHealthyOnline.com, editing the once-a-year Diet magazine, and serving
as the weight loss editor for Heart Healthy Living magazine. In past roles
Katie has edited a scrapbooking Web site, a home improvement Web site, and
wrote for or edited magazines on weddings, holiday decorating, midwest
travel, and home décor.
Des Moines is home to a variety of magazines, including those published by Meredith Corporation and August Home. Members of the Des Moines ED2010 chapter work for many different publications and include editors, freelance writers, and designers. Everyone is welcome!
Our chapter was recently honored to receive the first ever ED2010 City Chapter of the Year award. Some of our members were able to celebrate at Alba in the East Village in April 2009.
Welcome to the Des Moines chapter of Ed2010! Ed has been in Des Moines since the fall of 2001. We meet about once a month, generally alternating between informal happy hours and discussions about magazine-related trends. Past discussions have focused on topics such as travel writing, magazine web editing, and video production. We have also held networking events and portfolio reviews in conjunction with the ED2010 chapter at Drake University.
