OK, so AustinEd can’t guarantee a greeting from Mr. Rather, but he will be in Austin sharing his thoughts on the “American journalism crisis,” Thursday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. in the Texas Union ballroom.     Rebecca first met Ed as a bright-eyed freshman at an Ed on Campus event at The University of Texas, where she graduated in December 2007 from the magazine journalism program. She managed to snag a job on campus as assistant editor of The Alcalde, UT’s alumni magazine, where she started just two days after graduation. More than a year later, she’s loving the “real world” and continuing to explore and enjoy Austin. In her free time, she likes to be crafty, shop til she drops, and kick ass at pub trivia.

Ed's Been Busy...

Thanks to the gang who made it out to UnCorked to chat with John Spong of Texas Monthly. He shared with us the kinds of stories he’s passionate about (love stories - aww), the celebs who were great to work with (Owen Wilson) and not so great (Ted Nugent), and his least favorite part of the story process (coming up with ideas - Ed is with him on that one). Welcome to the Austin chapter of Ed2010! Ed has been in Austin for a few years. In 2008, then-hostess Lauren enlisted her former intern, Rebecca, to take the reigns. We try to meet once a month for happy hours, lectures, ice cream socials, editor/writer meet-and-greets, or whatever strikes Ed’s fancy.
