Rebecca first met Ed as a bright-eyed freshman at an Ed on Campus event at The University of Texas, where she graduated in December 2007 from the magazine journalism program. She managed to snag a job on campus as assistant editor of The Alcalde, UT’s alumni magazine, where she started just two days after graduation. More than two years later, she’s loving the “real world” and continuing to explore and enjoy Austin. In her free time, she likes to be crafty, shop til she drops, and kick ass at pub trivia.
The Austin Ed gang kicked off 2010 by chatting up Allen Chen, editor of Austinist, at SpiderHouse Cafe. Chen manages Austinist.com all in his free time — by day, he’s a computer science whiz at a tech company. Can you say, wow?

Welcome to the Austin chapter of Ed2010! Ed has been in Austin for a few years. In 2008, then-hostess Lauren enlisted her former intern, Rebecca, to take the reigns. We try to meet once a month for happy hours, lectures, ice cream socials, editor/writer meet-and-greets, or whatever strikes Ed’s fancy.
