All you writers out there, join us on October 20th to hear Gigi Douban - a successful Birmingham freelance journalist who has been published in a number of national and regional magazines and newspapers and reports on public radio. She’ll share with us her transition from a reporter with The Birmingham News to full-time freelancer, and share the secrets on how to get noticed - and published. Start your own Ed on Campus chapter

  • Cory is a University of Georgia Grady College alumna, with a degree in magazine journalism. She landed the job of her dreams as the Editor of skirt! magazine in February 2007 and worked there until it met its unfortunate end in July 2009. When Cory’s not writing freelance, she enjoys lingering over cups of quality coffee, thrifting furniture, creating crazy compilation CDs and cooking for friends.

  • Lauren is a Samford grad and the current Editor in Chief of Samford’s Cumberland Law School magazine. When she’s teaching or taking dance classes, she enjoys opening up her home in hospitality and spending time with her husband in their recently refurbished backyard “secret garden.”

Ambassadors

We’ve recently instated a campus ambassadorship program to streamline the process of getting Ed’s info out to college campuses and their J-students. If you attend a university in the metro Birmingham area and are interested in being the liason to your peers, send a resume and cover letter to birmingham@ed2010, subject line: ambassadorship.
