Host or President Name:
Eric Van Osten
Bio:
Eric has been a writer/editor for years. He graduated from Temple University in 2001 from its journalism program, where he was heavily involved with the school newspaper and magazine. He earned a JPRA award (Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising) in the category of magazine journalism. While in school, he also interned at Lapidary Journal--a 55-year-old jewelry magazine with a circulation of 50,000--and its spin-off magazines Colored Stone, Step by Step Beads, and Step by Step Wire Jewelry. After interning, he continued to work there in a myriad of positions before being promoted to Associate Editor. During that time, he also worked as Director of Publisher Relations/Graphic Designer at American Publishers, where he worked on the business side (making contracts with over 900 titles) and the creative side (designing and editing six catalogs of these magazines twice a year). And now, he's the Editor-in-Chief of RFID Product News (www.rfidproductnews.com) and Associate Editor of Package Design Magazine (www.packagedesignmag.com). RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, an up-and-coming track-and-trace technology. It has a targeted circulation of 10,000. Package Design Magazine focuses on all of the things involved in packaging and has a circulation of 30,000. Occasionally, he also takes on some freelance writing and editing projects. For fun, he plays music in a kitchy, new wave band called Umlaut (www.myspace.com/umlautphiladelphia), and he likes to run, garden, and travel.
