Cincinnati

Katherine graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2005 and did what any girl looking to break into glossies does: packed her things and bought a one-way ticket to NYC. She snagged a freelance gig at a start-up publication within three weeks of arriving. Her magazine experience in NY was, well, an experience and after a four-month stint in the Big Apple, she returned to the Midwest, where things are a bit more laid-back. Since 2005, Katherine has been an Assistant Editor at Cincinnati Magazine, where she does everything from fact checking and copy editing to writing features and the oh-so-important calendar listings. Her favorite punctuation mark is the exclamation point, though she doesn't get to use it in print as often as she would like. Someday, she hopes to return to NYC and take the publishing world by storm as an editor for a fashion, music, or travel magazine. Until then, she is excited for this opportunity to divulge the secrets of the publishing world to the Queen City's starry-eyed journalism students, recent grads, and other media mavens looking to break into magazines.
