Jamie Salmasian is a senior at UCF majoring in journalism and minoring in sociology. She has always loved magazines, especially Allure, National Geographic, Fitness and Harper’s Bazaar, which is why she prefers magazine journalism to newspaper journalism (she loves Ed2010!). Jamie has interned at Create Magazine, a magazine for the creative industries where she did some editorial work and writing. She also interned at Orlando Weekly, a free, weekly entertainment magazine in Orlando, Fla. where she did fact-checking and copy-editing. In addition, she has her own fashion column called “A La Mode” in the Central Florida Future (the UCF newspaper) where she spots the new trends on campus every week. Jamie also works part-time at the Melting Pot (since internships don’t pay, she needs to make money somehow!) and she enjoys music, sleeping, watching movies, dancing and just hanging out. Her plans for after college include moving to a big city outside of Florida and finding a job in the magazine industry, where she would love to be an editor. She is very excited to be president of the UCF chapter this year!

Lauren is anticipating pursuing her journalism career in the field, be it newspaper or magazine reporting. She was on the fence with both, deciding which track to follow, when she decided she will do both. Since she interned in spring 2007 at a weekly newspaper near University of Central Florida and Orlando Leisure magazine, she has an idea how both types of publications work.
She thinks Ed2010 is a great national club, allowing many people to get great internships and jobs that they probably wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. It’s also great, because she got a mentor through it—the assistant to the editor-in-chief of CosmoGirl! magazine!
