Chapter status:
Active
Host or President Name:
Charreah Jackson
Bio:
Charreah is officially old. She is 22-year-old senior print journalism major at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Her freshman year she was the founding president of Cover to Cover, the campus’s first and only pre-professional magazine organization. She has remained president except for a stint as vice president her junior year when she served as managing editor of the campus’s daily newspaper The Hilltop. The group focuses on career development for its members with trips to New York each year to visit magazines and its annual National Magazine Conference with top editors in attendance.
After faithfully reading the daily emails for a year, attending the awesome ‘Welcome to NYC’ party in New York and meeting some of the phenomenal Edsters, she was ecstatic to join Cover to Cover with the EOC network in the Fall of 2006.
After previously interning at Knight Ridder/Tribune Campus, Heart and Soul and Upscale Magazines, Charreah still daydreams about her ASME internship this past summer at Essence magazine in the entertainment department.
When Charreah is not dazing off with thoughts of her summer in the city (including great times with EOC Chapter Heads and her roomies Tammy Tibbets & Michelle Kalkhoff), she is battling senioritis reading her favorite magazines Vibe Vixen, Giant, Elle, Essence and Jane and freelancing with Vibe Vixen’s website and Essence among other publications.
Once she graduates in May, Charreah prays to land a job as an editorial assistant at one of the above magazines or any lifestyle magazine that gives her a shot. And yes, she does enjoy long walks on the beach, along with reading, blogging, cooking, finding great buys and unsuccessfully teaching herself to play the guitar. She hearts ED and her magazine group at HU!
